In 2023, Télé-Thyon SA invested in a new ropeway system connecting “Les Collons” to the Thyon 2000 stations, operating both in summer and winter. The installation, built by Bartholet, features a mixed configuration of 28 6-seater chairs and 8-passenger cabins. The “La Matze” lift replaces two parallel ski tows: La Matze and Theytaz 1. The system improves year-round accessibility between the lower settlements and the Thyon 2000 summit complex, making the eastern access point to the vast “Les 4 Vallées” network significantly more appealing-especially starting from the ski area’s main parking lot. The mixed lift type also enabled the creation of a one-kilometre sledding run. The presence of cabins enhances safety for transporting children, pedestrians, and individuals with reduced mobility or disabilities, while also making it easier to carry lightweight vehicles (bikes, etc.). Given the proximity to residential buildings in Thyon 2000, the drive station was installed at the valley terminal. A Fatzer Performa DT rope was chosen for its especially quiet operation. The main drive uses a Leitner Direct Drive LD5E. The lift includes two groups of four cabins-a solution that reduced construction costs by avoiding the need for a garage. In winter, the cabins are parked directly in the stations overnight, while the chairs, equipped with reduced backrests, remain on the line.
