The infrastructure of Weisse Arena Bergbahnen AG in Laax should remain in local hands. To this end, the municipalities of Flims, Laax, and Falera intend to purchase the entire package and lease it out.

The Grisons municipalities of Flims, Laax, and Falera want to acquire the infrastructure of Weisse Arena Bergbahnen AG. According to their statement, the goal is to prevent external investors from getting ahead of them. The management of the infrastructure would then be regulated through a lease agreement.

The existing infrastructure includes all transport systems, snowmaking equipment, as well as all high-altitude tourist buildings and facilities, the three municipalities stated in a joint release. The infrastructure would then be consolidated into the company Finanz Infra AG, owned by the municipalities.

The Weisse Arena Group, which includes the cableway company, has expressed its support for the project, the statement continues. As a local company, it will continue to be responsible for operating the Laax area.

Negotiations for the sale are expected to conclude quickly. Municipal votes will follow at the end of October.
