Dismantling the tiller of a snow groomer used to take so much time that machines were often tied to a single task for several days. Kässbohrer, in collaboration with Skilifte Warth, has developed the KFX system, which allows the tiller to be detached and reattached in just a few seconds—all while comfortably seated in the cab and without freezing your hands. All it takes is to find level ground, and attaching or detaching the tiller directly from the driver’s seat becomes a natural gesture.
The flexibility gained in daily operations is a real game changer. Now, switching from pushing to grooming takes just seconds. Without the tiller, the machine becomes smoother, lighter, and more agile. This added comfort makes a real difference, especially during long night shifts or under difficult conditions when the tiller is not needed: it enables better focus, less fatigue, and simply a better feeling on the slope.
The weight reduction not only improves handling: it also translates into a practical advantage in narrower areas of the slope. “You can get much closer to signs or fencing without constantly checking mirrors or distances,” explains Andreas Ulsess of Skilifte Warth. This reduces stress, as well as the risk of collisions and costly repairs. “Without the tiller, the machine operates more smoothly and the entire system is under less strain,” confirms Florian Huber of Skilifte Warth. Over time, this results in less overall wear, up to 10% fuel savings, lower operating costs, and a more relaxed working environment.
For the Warth ski lift team, the Kässbohrer KFX quick-change system is a true asset. It’s no surprise that two more KFX systems have already been ordered for the coming season.
